How alerts work
Turn it on
Choose a page. Your browser gives the site a private notification address.
We re-check daily
The first check sets the starting point and never alerts. After that, only a change in structured data does.
You get a notification
It opens the generator for that page so you can see what changed.
What counts as a change
Sends an alert
- A schema type is added or removed
- New errors appear in the markup, or errors are fixed
- The page cannot be read twice in a row, and when it comes back
Stays quiet
- Ordinary text and design changes
- The first check of a new watch
- A single failed read
See the privacy page for exactly what is kept.
Questions
What triggers an alert?
A change in the structured data on a page you are watching: a schema type added or removed, new errors in the markup, errors fixed, or the page becoming unreadable or readable again. Ordinary content changes do not trigger one.
How often are pages checked?
About once a day. Each device can watch up to five pages, and a watch ends after 90 days, so turn it on again if you still want it.
Which browsers support alerts?
Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari 16.4 or later. On iPhone and iPad, add this site to your Home Screen first (Share, then Add to Home Screen) and open it from there, because Safari only allows alerts for installed web apps.
Can I see what changed?
Yes. Each watched page on this page has a What changed list with the last ten changes and when they were found, such as “Schema removed: Product” or “2 new schema errors”.
How do I stop alerts?
Open this page, remove a page from the list, or choose Turn off all alerts. You can also block notifications for the site in your browser settings.
Why did I not get an alert?
Check that notifications are allowed for this site, that the page really changed its structured data, and that the watch is still in the list. If your browser refreshed its notification address, turn the alert on again.
